Grace Wins

If you’re like me, you’ve been bugged lately at all the junk and evil that has been going on in this country. Let’s face it, America is in a tough place spiritually, politically and economically. Unfortunately I didn’t make matters any better for my head last week when I decided to do some history reading regarding 20th century Russia and Germany. The similarities of America to the pre-Lenin, pre-Hitler era’s are beyond scary. To top things off my wife and I stayed up late last night to watch the movie, “13 hours” – the true story about the Benghazi debacle. That definitely didn’t help. Our society is paying the price for letting go of our moral compass, brotherly love and forgotten absolutes. We need God in a bad way.

I’ve been a Christian for years, but I’m more convinced today of our constant need of living by God’s Word and following the Holy Spirit. It’s the Bible that keeps our head centered and it’s the Holy Spirit who keeps our heart right. The Psalmist, David, said that God’s Word has the ability to show us where we are at/what’s going on in our life and has the power to illuminate the path we walk on. Just think of how much that would help us every day! Then in the book of John, Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit as our ‘Comforter’ – our God-given gift to assist us, help us, give us the rest we need and guide us in what is right. We all need more of that. Imagine trusting God enough with every part of this crazy journey called life insomuch that we could rest? I believe that’s what God had in mind for us.

Romans 5:20 (The Message Translation)
All that passing laws against sin did was produce more lawbreakers. But sin didn't, and doesn't, have a chance in competition with the aggressive forgiveness we call grace. When it's sin versus grace, grace wins hands down.

Will you this moment His grace receive?
Have a great week!
