When I began the journey of starting a church from ground zero I never imagined it to unfold the way it has. To the onlooker, this past year I’ve lost more than I’ve gained, and to be honest for several weeks I thought the same. Yet in the midst of the dark days and in the depth of my pain, something happened. Less became more. I realized I had been focusing on what I had lost instead of focusing on what I had. Have you ever been there? Focusing on what we’ve lost can overwhelm and debilitate the strongest of souls within moments; victimizing thoughts, emotions and strength. I don’t claim to be an expert, but I do know what changes perspective…thankfulness.
When you begin to appreciate the little things, you see how much you truly have. I’m thankful for the friends I have and for the friends I’ve gained. I’m thankful for the people who now attend Your Church and those who have become a part of our team. I’m thankful for the Torio’s who are moving their family from Texas to Oregon to join the church this Christmas. I am thankful for the opportunities I have that are opening doors and allowing me to grow. I am thankful for my family and for my faithful supporters who have stood beside me through the hardest season of my life – you helped me keep perspective, pursue this dream and helped this heart to love again.
